Declaration of Independence Plate
1 for $8.00
#524001

Declaration of Independence Plate  - 1776-1976 - 200 Years Ago

This interesting oval glass plate celebrates the 200th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. It is clear glass with a gold color painted back. This gives the plate its beautiful copper color.

Around the rim it lists the States and initials and last name of the person who signed the Declaration of Independence for that State. In the center of the plate it has the cracked Liberty Bell with the words "Proclaim Liberty throughout this Land unto all the inhabitants thereof." Under the bell it has: A.H.R.C. GR. Rapids Mich. 43503. This most likely is the company that either designed or manufactured the plate.

There is ONE small chip on the rim of the plate by the word New York. No other chips. There is a scratch on the "S" in Years. The paint is worn off in several spots - mostly around the edge of the plate. There also is a spot under the "G" in Ago and around the "76" in 1976 and under the "NCE" in Independence. This fading/wear of the paint could perhaps be repaired by repainting with a similar paint.

The plate is at least 27 years old. Personally I think that the paint wear gives the plate character.
